Competition for you all!

Postby kit » Tue Mar 04, 2008 12:04 am

You all know that I'm working very hard on the marketing of the Stonewylde Series, and it's not easy! I'm a school teacher and a writer, not a professional marketing person. :( So I need everyone's help please.

Mr B and I are trying to come up with some appropriate slogans to go with some of the promotional material (eg for banner ads, postcards, posters, etc). We need a phrase or short sentence that sums up the essence of Stonewylde and will persuade new people to take a look at the books. Some of my past efforts are things like "Something a little different", "Books that refuse to be put down", "Deep, dark and highly addictive", and "The book with afterglow".

I'm the first to admit these are not brilliant slogans! So please all wrack your brains and come up with something better for us to use! Any suggestions, however bizarre, would be very welcome. If we do decide to use yours, or something inspired by yours, we'll send you a T shirt. Although I must warn you these are not ready yet and probably won't be for about a month. But you'll definitely get one in your size when they're done. That's a promise!

Thank you - I look forward to reading lots and lots of interesting, brilliant ideas that will set the world on fire and get everyone buying Stonewylde! :D

Hi Kit,

I've got loads of half formed ideas whizzing round my mind :)

How about 'Become spellbound by Stonewylde' or something along those lines? It would be good to get across the magical aspect of the books. I'll get my thinking cap on and let you know of any others I can think of!

Oh Kit, I'm useless at this kind of thing - my background is in the Education sector too!
I can only think of pretty lame ones and I doubt if thinking about it will help me, some of them may even be a bit too close to some other marketing slogans! Oh well, here goes:
Stonewylde -where magick is alive
Now is the time, Stonewylde is the place.
Stonewylde - it's Magickal!
Stonewylde - it's closer than you think..........
Are you going to Stonewylde?
Have you been to Stonewylde?
I've been to Stonewylde!
Stonewylde - nowhere is better!
Come on everyone, I absolutely know that you can do better than mine!

I scribbled down a few more whilst I was plonked on the sofa feeding Robin earlier! They're all very much variations on a theme, I'm afraid...

Enchantment lies between the covers (referring to the book covers!)

Discover the magick of Stonewylde for yourself.

Stonewylde: Magick awaits all who enter.

Stonewylde: This way magick lies.

Hmm, as I said, all very similar

I'm never very good at things like this, and being as I'm only halfway through the first book it's not easy to form a complete conclusion - whatever, I'm already well and truly hooked, so here goes:

Stonewylde - awakens the magick you weren't even aware of

Stonewylde - so very different yet somehow so familiar

Stonewylde - a truly Magickal world, come in and be enchanted

Not nearly as good as some of the others I'm afraid, I'll keep thinking and maybe further inspiration will come!

Do you believe in Magick?? You soon will!! Stonewylde

Imagine a self sufficient place where Magick and the old Gods rule - you've just imagined Stonewylde!!

Yes, they're brilliant! What a great response. :D I've pasted them all into a word document in my huge Stonewylde folder, attributed to each person of course, and we're both getting much pleasure from reading them all. We may well use more than one of course, as there are lots of different places where we need an eye-catching slogan. One of the issues is the different markets - there's a huge pagan interest, but there's also a growing readership amongst non-pagans too, who enjoy the books as a different type of read. These are the people we need to target especially, if Stonewylde is going to make it big, and it's difficult to come up with a slogan that will draw them in but not put them off, if you see what I mean!

Please keep at it - you're all wonderful and I'm so lucky to have everyone behind me. THANK YOU!!!! XXXXXXXX

Here's a few more more :

Lose yourself in Stonewylde

Stonewylde-once visited, never forgotten

Escape to another world...

Stonewylde-where all is not what it seems...

I suppose the last two could be combined, but that might be a bit long?

I understand what you mean about not making it 'too' pagan, as some people might think it's too 'weird' or get put off :(

I think everyone on here is doing a lot better than some advertising executive could though

We have an 'emotional investment' in 'the product' and I guess that makes a difference!
I like the idea of combining some of the slogans and I agree that it might be better to 'target' different folk by using different slogans.
I've been toying with a slant on lonely hearts ads, something along the lines of:
'Well grounded boy WLTM moongazy girl'
I am sure some of you creative folk could fiddle with this as a concept to make it sound better!
and
'Wild about Stonewylde!' (has somone else already said this  !)
'Stonewylde Rocks' (yes, I am bit of a middleaged rocker  !)
'You can leave Stonewylde, but it will never leave you' (maybe that's a bit too close to 'Hotel California'!)
'Moon Magick + 'Earth Magick = Stonewylde' (dredging the bottom of the barrel here, I did say I wasn't creative didn't I  !)

Ok that's it, I need chocolate now!
:D
