I was looking on line for festivals the other day, as I'm planning to attend a couple this summer. Couldn't believe what I found - there seem to be festivals all over the country these days - usually held on large estates, with music and entertainment, craft stalls and interesting food, In addition to the mainstream festivals, there are of course the pagan gatherings where the participants celebrate the major pagan festivals or just get together to socialise in the sun.

I'm getting organised to attend a couple of these events soon, so the idea is obviously on my mind at the moment. But last night I had a dream that I was at a Stonewylde festival - held in a large estate beside the sea in Dorset, but not Stonewylde itself, of course.

When I awoke, this was still on my mind ....... wouldn't it be great if this could become a reality, not just for forum members, but it would be an opportunity for folk (and Stonewylde fans) to get together and celebrate the summer. Wouldn't want it to become really specialist like the trekkie conventions, but there could be a general Stonewylde theme, e.g. we could drink mead and dance under the full moon (it would need to coincide with that of course.)

And what a great way of publicising Stonewylde to the world at large.

Too late for this year, of course, but plenty of time to plan something for 2009.

What do you think Kit?

I think it's a fabulous idea, Seawitch! I'd love to go, given half a chance. I agree, there's so many festivals on nationwide, it would be too expensive to go to too many, but I'd pull the stops out for a Stonewylde festival - especially if it's in Dorset, a place I spent 25 years in and still regard as my original home.

Ooh, I'd love to go :D Would there be the special celebration cakes?

I know that Kit has mentioned it's a dream of hers to have a Stonewylde festival. Hopefully when she has the broadband sorted out she can let us know what she thinks too.

A Stonewylde Festival would be great, especially in Dorset so those who are unfamiliar with Stonewylde country can get a glimse of the beautiful countryside that helped inspire Kit to write. Not that I am biased living here ( chuckle chuckle )

I'd love to be counted in. It would be something new and interesting to me. We camped in Dorset, just for a couple of nights, about ten years ago, and thought it was absolutley beautiful country. We camped just outside of Cerne Abbas, and saw the big man himself! Something for the ladies too, eh Carp?
