I first heard about Kit and the Stonewylde books in our local paper - The Dorset Echo.

Merry Meet mrb

I found out about Stonewylde from a shop called 'Sister Moon' in Dorchester. The lady there recomended them very highly but at the time had sold out of 'Magnus'.

Hard or soft g

Postby kit » Sat Aug 25, 2007 10:34 pm

Don't worry, you're not the only one to put the extra n in Magus - lots of people have done that. Probably because of Magnus Magnusson! And while we're on the subject of Magus, in case anyone's in any doubt about the pronunciation of it ...

It's a hard g like in Magnus, not a soft g like in magic. The confusing thing is that when the word is pluralised, ie magi (like in the bible) it becomes soft because g followed by i is almost always soft. Confusing or what?? Maybe I should have chosen a different name. In fact when I started writing the books, he didn't even have a name because I just couldn't find one that sounded right. I wanted something that conveyed his status at Stonewylde but also his magical side too. After writing about five chapters of the first book, putting in asterisks for his name, it suddenly hit me! And the really funny thing is that one of my cats, a beautiful black Burmese, is called Magus!!! For exactly the same reasons too. And the cat came first!

I had Stonewylde recommended by Taz on Wiccan Moon forum. I have only just forgiven her for leaving me in the lurch like that.

If its any consolation, I always call him Magnus too

I think I saw an ad in a magazine. I had certainly heard of it before I found the books at the Beltaine Bash. I'm sorry, I can't remember who the reviewer was - might have been in Pagan Dawn, but I can't be sure.
