lol Carp.

I have the wicker man on dvd so I guess I like the film, its a little dated now but It does build the suspense so well, and I am not sure how the Nicholas Cage remake will compare- I havent seen that yet.

I agree the Original film was 'of its time', and as such, a cult film.

I love the Wicher Man!!! It is an amazing film. I have seen the original with Edward Woodward from 1973 and the Director's cut of that film (do not rate the cut at all) but not seen Nicholas Cage version yet. I am going to order from LoveFilm so I can slag it off!!!! Grrr - remakes - grrr.

So now you have two votes on your Poll!

In 1973 I was doing a dance called 'Jump up and down and wave your knickers in the air' but I was only 6 at the time!!!!

Hi there
Merry Yule!
I have not had the film arrive as yet, they come randomly unless i specially order it so shall do and keep you posted. Just the fact alone that it is a US remake worries me as I think that they may have changed many of the references. And today I got the original film on DVd for a Christmas present from my sister so I can watch it to my heart's content! I hope you had a relaxing Yule and are not too full - as I am (too much bubble and squeak!

Will keep you posted film wise!

Hi Sujee
it was shown on sky again this week so taped it, I can only watch it when its quiet and my son is out he thinks it is so dated
the only good thing about having sky is they do repeat progs...... a little too much at times

take care & hope you enjoy it

I had the DVD for Christmas so can watch it whenever I like now! Showed a Danish friend and she was not sure what to make of it but she watched it politely anyway! Was sipping damson vodka during viewing which was most lovely.....

Still not had remake from Love Film but will let you know what I think in due course....

The 13th Warrior has been playing on ITV as well. A film about an Arab who hooks up with some viking warriors fighting unknown magic.

Made in 1999 starring Antonio Banderas as Arab courtier, Ahmad Ibn Fadlan.

And, if you have Film 4, check out the Studio Ghibli productions, such as Laputa: The Flying Island, Kiki's Delivery Service and so on - fab Japanese cartoons about witchcraft and magic.

It's a great film and Antonio Banderas was very good in the lead
I'd also be cheering for the Predator, by the way, against those pesky Aliens  .

We LOVE Studio Gibli in my house! My 19 y o daughter is collecting them all - her favourite is Spirited Away - mine is My Friend Toroto. Princess Monoko is the best one for eco issues and spirits tho.

Antonia Banderas as an arab.... mmm... wonder if he would like to see my Bellydancing.....!
