Just a spoonful of sugar....

Hehe - I would like to think so Seasprite but instead I think Mary Poppins is who I aspire to be like! I am a newly qualified primary school teacher (with music specialism) desperately trying to find work at the moment. I live in Scarborough with my wonderful boyfriend and soulmate (my Yul). After moving around a lot over the past ten years I feel that I have found my nest in Scarborough, it's such a beautiful place and the people are so friendly. It's one place in England where the big supermarkets don't seem to have taken complete control so I can visit the bakers, the market etc for our food. It's a place steeped in history too which I love soaking up when we walk our dog Lucy. All I am wishing for now is to find a job in a nice primary school so that I can do the job that I love and my partner and I also hope that we can soon start a family together. My secret wish is that we will have a handfasting this Beltane

For one reason and another this year has been difficult for us, a good friend of mine sent me the Stonewylde trilogy to cheer me up. I felt the books actually helped to do some healing for me and I am so glad to find this community of like minded people. I have yet to make many friends here in Scarborough so it is lovely to meet the Stonewylde folk. I look forward to getting to know you all :)

Hello MPoppins, this forum is lovely. It's one of the nicest places on the web.
I have a Mary Poppins bag. The kids nicknamed it that because I can fit so many things in it and whenever they need anything (plaster, paracetamol, drink, sewing kit etc.) there is always one in there. I haven't managed to produce a DSlite or Wii yet, but I am working on it. Maybe you could share some tips! :D

Brilliant! I have used that comparison myself before! Maybe it's slightly obsessive but I have found so much about Mary Poppins that is helpful in everyday life. Recently I went for a job interview and two children from the school council were part of the interview. When they asked if I had any questions I thought back to the beginning of MPoppins ,where they write their requests of their new nanny, and asked "What would you like from your new teacher?". I also think that the art of making tidying your room a game is something that every parent would benefit from!!!

I am pleased to meet you daffodil x

A very warm welcome from me too, MPoppins! Thanks for introducing yourself - it's so nice to know a bit about our new members. All the very best with finding a job as a primary teacher. I remember how very excited I was when I got my first job in a primary school. I think it's one of the most rewarding jobs on the planet, and you actually feel you're making a difference to children's lives. Let us know how you get on finding a position.

I love Mary Poppins too - I remember seeing the film as a child back in the sixties and wishing I could meet her for real. She's a great character to aspire to! Glad you've managed to sort your avatar out now, and we all look forward to lots more posts from you. This really is a great community to be part of, and you'll make lots of friends. And I'm so delighted that Stonewylde helped you in a difficult time.

Bright blessings to you and your personal Yul!

And a big Welcome from me too, Mary! I remember reading Mary Poppins long before the film came out, and being enthralled by the magic in it, especially where Mary Poppins goes inside the picture! It fired up my child's imagination, and I loved colouring in the pictures in the book, too!

I wish you the very best of luck and success in finding the perfect job for you, and hope you have a wonderful time here with us all at Stonewylde!

Oh, and I hope you can fulfill your dream of being handfasted at Beltane, the most auspicious time of the year if you want to start a family!

Love Beantighe
