Sophie, just to let you know - I posted a copy of Solstice to your school today, with a card, poster and photo. I addressed it to the librarian, so you might like to check in a couple of days that it arrived safely? I hope students at your school enjoy all three books - make sure you tell them all!

I'm actually spending two days next week teaching the whole of a local secondary school's Year 10 (about 240 kids) some hints and tips for their Creative Writing GCSE coursework (and talking about Stonewylde of course!). I'm looking forward to it but dreading it too as I'll have to do the same lesson 8 times in 2 days!  Oh well - hopefully they'll all go out and read the books afterwards - and maybe even do a bit better in their coursework too, if I can get them inspired. :D

Thanks for your good wishes, Sophie! I'm kind of nervous, not having taught now for a couple of years. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just for students who wanted to meet me, but where it's the whole year group there'll be lots of people who aren't keen at all, and we know what hard work it can be trying to engage reluctant Year 10s!!! You're very welcome for the book, by the way, and I received a really sweet e-mail from your school librarian too! :D

Brianna I'm sure your coursework will be excellent. I wish I could have come to your school too - good old Weymouth. I'm wondering if you're at Wey Valley, All Saints or Budmouth (and maybe my memory is failing me and I've missed one out!). I did come to Budmouth once to talk to a Year 8 class. And there's a pupil there called Dervla who's a very keen Stonewylde fan. She's going to be in the next newsletter at the Winter Solstice with her dad on Table Top mountain in South Africa wearing her Stonewylde T-shirt! I'm so glad you and Sophie have hooked up! We haven't had any younger members join for ages, and then suddenly two of the same age in almost the same week! Spooky or what?
