I've Lit A Candle...

Reading this thread brought a lump to my throat.

We lost our baby about eight weeks ago, I feel like a mother with empty arms. It is difficult to get over such an experience but I think that lighting a candle, especially at this time of year when we all mourn, is a beautiful and helpful idea.

Firecracker I'm so glad to hear that you are now blessed with a child. I know that when we are able to have a baby, he/she will be very precious to us. I am lucky to have a wonderful partner and affectionate dog to give me lots of cuddles in the meantime :)

Talking about death and loss is a real taboo in our society. If only we could reclaim the true meaning of Samhain I think this would be good starting point in helping people come to terms with this part of our life-cycle.

Oh, M, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I know that no words can make it better. At least you have your partner and dog to provide some comfort at this difficult time. I truly hope that you are able to have your own little one one day soon.

Thanks ss, I have come to realise that this happens a lot but of course people don't talk about it. I try to think of these life problems as boulders that can either squash you and bury you or you can climb on top of them and use them as stepping stones. Life brings joy and pain in equal measures methinks.

I know that many women have miscarriages :( I had a very early one the month before I became pregnant with Robin. As you say though, people don't tend to talk about it.

I like the analogy of boulders and stepping stones :) It's one I shall remember :D

Im sorry for you and your family MP.

I will light a candle for a dear friend who passed away 6 years ago at 24. She was killed by a house boat fire. She was the happiest person I have ever met.

Miss her loads.

My thanks, too! I'm lighting a candle to thank the Goddess for my mom. Last night she fell down some stairs - she's 76. She was badly bruised, but not broken.

I am lighting a candle for all those innocent children who have lost their precious lives through abuse and neglect.

I've lit a candle for my friends John & Sam who have lost their beloved dog this morning. Long may Bosco frolic in the Summerlands.
