Calling on all cat lovers for help

Postby kattaddorra » Tue Dec 16, 2008 6:47 pm

I hope it's OK to post this, I see many cat lovers on here and we desperately need help in our mission to get the cruel procedure of the declawing of cats, which I mentioned when I was welcomed, banned.
My sister started a group The Claws Connection and I have a petition going but we have contacted everyone we can think of and need many many more to help us in our quest.
If anyone is interested, this is the group:
http://clawsforever.ning.com/
and this is the petition:
http://www.petitionthem.com/default.asp ... l&pet=4312
My heart aches to think of kittens and cats having to live their lives without their toes and claws,I so badly want to help stop this happening if I can.
THANK YOU
Katt

I've signed too. Wishing all power to the petition, Kattaddorra. This is a terribly cruel and barbaric practise, like the American habit of cutting dogs' ears, and should be condemned by the whole world.

I am simply unable to read about cruelty to any animal - it breaks my heart and makes me feel ashamed to be a member of the human race.

All signed!! :D

Hideous people   I would never put a cat of mine through something like that! She is a wonderful companion and I would never take a friend to the doctors to have her nails ripped out!

THANK YOU so very much on behalf of all the future cats who will hopefully be saved from this mutilation, by many people protesting. It's going to be a long hard battle and I've 'met' some very unkind people who say it's a waste of time and why should I care anyway when its not happening here in England. But I do care very much and 'meeting' people like you gives me the strength to carry on.

Hya Kattadora

Well done for doing this petition I signed it earlier and am a member of the Claws Connection too.

I really think you and your sister do a marvelous thankless task in your work to help cruelty to animals.

Thank you ! A lot of people don't know it still goes on, so spreading the word is very important and much appreciated.

Done!!

We nearly lynched someone recently as they had their dog's tail bound for docking. Despite the fact that it's illegal people still get away with it. They don't deserve to keep dogs - if this woman hadn't had a child with her I think we would have tried taking her dog off her....

Unfortunately animals aren't given rights as they should. It is truly awful.

:D Thank you Mary Poppins. I know how you must have felt about that poor dog ! Some people shouldn't have animals, why do they want to mutilate such perfect little creatures I wonder ? Dogs come with tails, cats with claws, why get them if they don't like that ! :?
One excuse for getting a cat declawed was 'I'm frightened he scratches the baby's eyes out' I couldn't get through to this person that in our country we take good care of our babies and bring our children up teaching them to handle pets gently, and anyway a cat scratching a baby's eyes out, I've never ever heard of ! But mostly it's for the precious furniture ! Not a thought of buying a scratching post and teaching the cat to use that ! Getting rid of the poor cats claws is easier for them.
Oh it makes me so sad  ....and so MAD !
Thanks for 'listening'

I agree :)

If the human race could begin to understand how important it is to respect the rights of animals we would learn so much. We think of ourselves as superior and yet we're the ones destroying the planet. I feel honored to be living with our furry friend and learn so much from her. This morning I was upset and she came up and licked my tears - how amazingly intelligent and sensitive - and she made me feel a lot better :)
